A talk presented by Rich Kochendarfer on reducing your system administration burden and cost while increasing service and saving the planet. Topics covered included the advantages of the thin-client model versus a standard PC network, hardware considerations, and Open Source applications in education. In addition, the New Covenant Schools of Bedford experience using Linux to provide their computing infrastructure was discussed, including a demonstration of the system used in this school.

A talk presented by Brian Mays on the Python scripting language. After providing a brief overview of the language, this talk focused on the practical aspects of Python and discussed some examples from scripts for tasks such as XML parsing, GCI processing, and numerical calculations.
